Laser skin resurfacing is used to reverse damage of the skin resulting from a variety of factors, including excessive sun exposure, aging and habits such as smoking. Resurfacing treatments use either ablative or non-ablative lasers. Ablative lasers implement rapid pulses of highly intense light to remove the upper layers of the skin that are damaged. Non-ablative lasers are less invasive and achieve the desired result by stimulating collagen growth. At CO2 Med Spa, a division of Laser Aesthetics of Colorado, we are able to help our laser skin resurfacing patients find a treatment plan that provides the best possible result.
Candidates for Laser Skin Resurfacing
- Patients with skin that is sun-damaged, wrinkled or lacks elasticity
- Patients experiencing irregular skin color changes, including but not limited to blotches or brown spots

About Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing is a popular treatment because it provides skin smoothing and skin tightening in one treatment. The results are considered long-lasting and impact both skin quality and skin texture. Treatments are available to treat essentially every area of the body, with the most popular treatments used to provide improved skin on the face, neck, chest and hands. Laser skin resurfacing can cause temporary negative side effects, including allergic reactions or cold sores. Over time, the results provided by the treatment will diminish as the factors that caused the original skin damage occur.
How Laser Skin Resurfacing is Performed
Laser skin resurfacing is performed using a handheld device that is passed over the treated area while it emits a powerful, focused laser. The laser is administered in brief pulses, damaging the desired tissue and causing a healing process to begin that provides new, younger looking tissue. Depending on the patient and the desired result, laser resurfacing treatments can be performed at various depths and with different laser devices.
Centennial laser skin resurfacing patients generally experience very little to no discomfort during the procedure, and are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately. Due to the varied nature of laser skin resurfacing treatments, post-operative instructions will be different from patient to patient.
